Montpellier Football Club is looking for partners within the community to work with us on our journey both on the field and off it. Our priority this year is to on board a new main sponsor for our under 17’s ahead of their second season with the club. First and foremost, a little bit about us.
Montpellier Football Club was only formed in 2021 from a ‘What If?’ conversation during lockdown about what we at the time referred to as the ‘next evolution in grassroots football’ and has since grown into one of the fastest growing and most exciting grass roots sports clubs in Gloucestershire. Having experienced football at a grass roots level ourselves, it was our opinion that most clubs had lost touch with the most fundamental parts of what it means to be a club: Inclusiveness, Fair Play and Community. Our aim with Montpellier Football Club was to cultivate a winning environment on the pitch while also putting a huge effort into working with the local community to build a hub for all to enjoy.
Our first season we were able to take the Division 3 title by storm. In our second season we established a second senior team and managed to add two more league titles and a cup win to our trophy cabinet. This season we are currently still in the running for four more trophies across the two teams including the CAFL showpiece at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium. We have established our first youth team (under 16’s) and completed their first full season. Next year we will be expanding the youth section by brining in an u12’s in what we hope will one day be a local youth program covering all ages from tots to vets and everything in between. We became an officially England Football accredited and have made the Priors Farm Pavilion our home and club house, an asset we hope to turn into a local community hub over the coming year.
Off the pitch we have worked equally as hard to build a reputation as a reliable, inclusive, community football club. In one of our first attempts to make the Club House an important community spot and through the hard work and help of Radis Community Care, our club house is now the home of a brand new, lifesaving, defibrillator. The first of many collaborations with local organisations on the horizon.
Our goal for the club from a footballing perspective is to emulate (and hopefully one day surpass) the success of other local clubs by having teams across all age groups as well as a women’s team, vets and disability. Firmly doubling down on our belief that football is now and should always be for everyone. We hope over the coming years to be able to develop Priors into a real home for our club and use it as a staging point to build a future for our club and the local area.
Every year we grow a little bit more. More people buy in to what we do, more people come join us and there’s no sign of it slowing down any time soon. We are passionate about working with our sponsors, not having them work for us. We want to create and cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships that help to grow our club but also allow us the opportunity to help grow our community.
Montpellier as a district is the heart and soul of Cheltenham, and that is exactly how we see our club. We have worked tirelessly over the past three seasons to bring in the right people, players and sponsors. People who not only buy into our mission, but also believe in the same core values as we do. Football is for everyone, and Community is everything.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us and who we are. If you would be interested in working with us on any level, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
Kindest regards,
Sam Collier
